Knights of Columbus Outreach

Given the recent declaration of Fr. Michael McGivney as a Servant of God by Pope Benedict XVI, the time is opportune for the Knights of Columbus to re-enkindle their members with the vision, mission, and spirit of their founder.

For a more vibrant Church, it will take a large force of men to come to Her defense and uphold Her identity. Arguably, the continued growth and development of the Knights offers an indispensable support to protect the values of the Church as well as Society.

Fr. Chavez, a Knight himself, has been working diligently with the Order, particularly in Pennsylvania. Last February, Fr. Chavez was invited to be a delegate at the Vatican’s Twentieth Anniversary Conference of John Paul II’s Letter “On the Dignity of Women.” This honor he shared with the Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, where they later participated in an audience with the Holy Father.

Since 2007, Fr. Chavez has been offering workshops on themes relative to the mission and spirit of the Knights, particularly emphasizing the degree themes: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. He proposes the various topics for half day conferences for Knights gathered in their councils or districts:

• “Charity: Forging a Knight’s Strengths in God’s Service”
• “Unity: That They May All be One”
• “Fraternity: Forging a Band of Brothers”
• “Patriotism: For God and County”

• “The Life and Spirit of Fr. Michael J. McGivney”
• “The Code of Chivalry and the Modern Knight”
• “Faith, Fraternalism, and Mission”
• “Columbus: Visionary and Explorer”
• “Knights Moving into the 21st Century”
